Exhibition dates: 26th Sep 2013 - 9th Oct 2013
A photographic exhibition of large scale black and white works, by Sarah Leslie
Hundred Years Gallery,
13 Pearson Street,
Haggerston, London, E2 8JD
Object = Subject explores the disjuncture of how photography is understood through the sum of its scientific parts, and it’s positioning as a representative medium. This exhibition aims push this theoretical discourse through exploring both the subject of the photographic gaze and the photograph as object unto itself.
Developed over six years, and featuring images taken in historically significant locations across Europe and the UK, the final exhibition features five large-scale black and white works. The images are illustrative of Leslie’s ongoing enquiry into experimental photographic practice, firmly rooted in the counter-argument to the medium’s posture as a representative and mimetic tool.
The exhibition opens on Thursday 26 September, and continues until Wednesday October 9. As part of TimeOut First Thursdays on October 3, this exhibition will feature a spoken word event, lead by poet, rapper and performer Adam Kammerling.
